Miss-Stout Ethics Workshop

The 2nd Annual Miss-Stout Ethics Workshop is being held in Milwaukee on June 4 and 5, 2026. The workshop began in May 2025 as a collaborative effort between Xan Bozzo (UW-Stout) and Harrison Lee (Ole Miss) as a bioethics workshop. It has since grown to include contributions from any area of ethics. Working drafts in metaethics, normative ethics, or applied ethics are welcome.

Details

The aim of the workshop is to host 10-12 presenters. Each presenter will submit a working draft of a paper in advance so that other presenters have a chance to read it. At the event, each presenter will give a short summary of their paper and have a chance to discuss it with the other participants. In-person attendance is strongly encouraged, but virtual participants are welcome (there is no stipend for virtual participants).

Participants are expected to have drafts of their papers submitted to the group by May 14, 2026.

Further details are below. If you are interested attending, please apply here: FORTHCOMING.

Lodging & Stipend

Participants will receive a $1500 stipend. There is no stipend for virtual participants.

The stipend is being generously provided by the Center for Applied Ethics at UW-Stout. Accepted participants can expect to receive the stipend sometime after the workshop, in June or July.

The 2026 workshop will be held at Saint Kate — The Arts Hotel in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on June 4 and 5, 2026. Participants who reserve their room by May 6, 2026 will receive the group state rate of $103/night. Participants are encouraged to reserve a room for the nights of June 3 and 4, and possibly June 5, depending on travel plans.
